Predatory Lending and Foreclosure Prevention

In partnership with Racine County, Milwaukee County UW-Extension offers education and outreach activities designed to combat rising foreclosure rates and help
participants to become savvy loan product consumers. Education is focused on:

  • Increasing consumer and community partner awareness
  • Building knowledge, skills and practices surrounding predatory lending and foreclosure to ensure preservation of homeownership and build awareness of predatory lending characteristics
  • Developing proactive workshops, community resource enhancement and local,
state and national collaboration surrounding predatory lending prevention and foreclosure
    prevention.

UW-Extension sponsors classes to assist consumers in making sound credit decisions
leading to successful homeownership, with the goal of enhancing economic stability for
Milwaukee’s families.
