Anyone who is interested in learning more about nurturing plants and sharing that knowledge with others is a good candidate to become a Master Gardener.
Master Gardeners are volunteers trained by UW-Extension specialists and agents in many aspects of horticulture. In return for their training, Master Gardeners volunteer to help with UW-Extension educational programs in horticulture and a wide variety of community service projects.

 Master Gardener Training Classes Announced
Registration for Level 1 Training for UW-Extension Master Gardener Volunteers is now open. Classes meet once per week starting September 8 for 13 weeks to provide an overview of horticultural topics including: Basic Botany, Soils, Pest Management, Insects & Diseases, Weeds & Invasive Plant Species, General Gardening Practices, Garden Flowers, Trees & Shrubs, Fruits & Vegetables, Lawn Care, and Backyard Wildlife.
 
Classes can be taken in either Milwaukee or Waukesha Counties. The course emphasizes university-based information supported by the University of Wisconsin – Extension.
 
The $199 course fee includes three binders of UW-Extension resources and 12 weeks of instruction by University of Wisconsin Extension staff and faculty.
Southeast Wisconsin Master Gardeners provide scholarships based on financial need.

Classes are filled on a first-come basis and fill quickly. Submit your application form materials with the checks for the fees as outlined in the registration brochure as soon as possible.
