How to Become a Master Gardener

To become certified, Master Gardeners must successfully complete both the training and service requirements during their first year in the program. To maintain certification, a minimum number of hours of continuing education (10 hours) and volunteer service (24 hours) must be completed annually.

The SouthEast Wisconsin Master Gardener membership dues of $10 per year also includes membership in the state Master Gardener Association.


Master Gardener General Training will be held Mondays from 5:30-8:30 pm beginning January 14, 2008 at UWEX office in Milwaukee and Tuesdays from 1:00 - 4:00 pm beginning January 15, 2008 at UWEX office in Waukesha (Courthouse Annex). The first week will be Orientation followed by 12 weeks of instruction through the week of April 1, 2008. Download the registration brochure (PDF icon 2 pages, 295 KB).
