“EXPLORING 4-H SATURDAY” After April 5th with the help of Mrs. Pat Roberts, Master Gardener/4-H Leader from Waukesha, we have nine new green thumbs in our county. When many of us are shopping for plants to transplant in early June, these youth will be busy transplanting what they have started from seeds.

May 3rdHORSE PROJECT” by leader Ms. Char Ehlert. Well known for her work with our county horse project.

June 7th  “ IT’S IN THE BAG” with  Mr. John de Montmollin, a Youth & Family Educator from Kenosha County UW-Extension. John will be doing this workshop. Any leader, youth or adult, will learn from this workshop. Come and learn new ice breaking games. This workshop is a must for all leaders and camp counselors.

July 5th  NO “EXPLORING 4-H SATURDAY” THIS MONTH.

Aug. 2nd “THEATRICAL ARTS” Mr. Tim Talen or members of the 4-H Theatrical Arts Team will lead this workshop.  The Art Team performs many times daily during the first half of the State Fair. Mr. Talen is the UW-Extension staff person who oversees all 4-H State Theatrical Art Teams. Both Mr. Talen and our 4-H State Theatrical Arts Teams are well known statewide.

Sept. 6th “PUBLIC SERVICE PROJECT” Part of being a 4-H member is our public service projects.

Oct. 4TH “BIRD FEEDERS/BIRD HOUSES FROM RECYCLED MATERIALS” Mr. Eddie Benoit Jr. returns, this time having us make bird feeders and birdhouses. What makes this workshop so special is both will be made from recycled materials. I was speechless when Eddie shared some of materials that will be used.

Nov 1st “LEARNING SCIENCE THOUGH THE ARTS” Mary Thiry returns having us do more hands on experiments. This time we discover a fun way to learn science while dabbling in the arts. This is not a repeat of her March workshop.

“EXPLORING 4-H SATURDAY” is the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 – noon.  We meet at our UW-Extension office. Please call Mark Watkins Sr. at 281-2492 no later than the Wednesday before the meeting to register. We need a head count so that project leaders of the month can plan ahead and have supplies for everyone.

Any Leader or Jr. Leader willing to lead the project of the month, please schedule with Mark.

FOLKPATTERNS Project

FOLKPATTERNS graphic

The word "folkpatterns" was coined to describe the traditions (patterns of life) of people (folk). The 4-H FOLKPATTERNS Project is designed to guide young people in learning more about themselves, their families, and their communities. It is an opportunity to explore the folklore of their ethnic group, family, and culture. Participants will be engaged in activities and learning during the Monday gatherings, but much of the work really takes place at home and in the community as you interview family and friends, take trips to your local library, look through old family pictures and much more!

Mondays, 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm
February 4, March 3, April 7, May 5, June 2

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
